BEIT ESHEL The first Jewish settlement in the Negev, near Beer-Sheva, settled in 1941 as an agricultural experimental station, besieged in 1948 by the Egyptians, 2 postal history items: (1) 1944 Airgraph micrograph letter to the Muchtar (=head) of Beit Eshel, "P.O.Box 1, Beer Sheva", (2) 1946 Airletter from Australia to Beit Eshel, POB 1, Beer-Sheba", via Bet Lehem.
TO MISHMAR HAYARDEN 1941 printed circular from Jerusalem addressed to MISHMAR HAYARDEN, near ROSH PINA, hand signed Dr. Mosinson, backstamped Rosh Pina. [In 1948 the Syrians burnt Mishmar Hayarden and destroyed it. This is one of the few postal history documents that remained about the pre-1948 existence of this settlement.]
