Turkish pc pmkd Istanbul 15.1.1942, addressed to Dr. Ebner in Tel Aviv. The typed message in German: "I shall meet Sobel soon and hope to get information in regard to Frankel & Menczer ... will inform ASAP..." Aron Menczer was the director of the Youth Aliyah in Vienna and an educator. He was sent to Forced Labor Camp by LINZ (5/1941), returned to Vienna and transferred to Theresienstadt Ghetto (9/1942). He was sent to his death in Birkenau (10/1943). Without return address, but from G. BLUM of P.O.B. 207 Istanbul as per the following lot. With Palestine censor mark on front.

Folded letter, typed in English, from the "Custodian of Enemy Property" (large English hstmp & "Certified Official" hstmp), pmkd Jerusalem 19.DE.42, addressed to the manager of the Anglo-Palestine Bank of Tel Aviv. Message regards the release of part of funds "held by me for account of the above 'ENEMY' and is to be utilized ... ". Prof. Simon Dubnov was a historian, public activist & political ideologist. He was murdered in 1941 in Riga during the expulsion of the Jews of R,ga to the Concentration Camps. Funds were to be sent to Mrs. Ehrlich of Canada.
