GOLDA MEIR (1898-1978) Prime Minister of Israel. Meir served as Israel's Foreign Minister from 1956 to 1966. In 1969 she became Israel's fourth prime minister and resigned in 1974. 11 ½ X 17 ½ inch document signed, October 23, 1958. The document, in Hebrew, is the official Israeli Consul appointment of Haim Rafael as Consul of Israel in Sydney, Australia. "...It is requested that Queen Elizabeth II and all authorities assure the free exercise of these functions as well as the pleasure of all privileges" Signed by Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Ben-Zvi (1884-1963) and Foreign Minister Golda Meir, the document bears the seal of Israel. There is a second copy signed in type which is a French translation of the document. Both documents have been rolled. Also included is the original shipping tube. They are both wrinkled with some staining. Certificate of authenticity from a prominent autograph dealer.
